TPP Program Description
Welcome to the Hixon Teacher Preparation Programs at Pasadena City College!
The mission of the Hixon Teacher Preparation Programs is to prepare, promote, and support students in pursuing and achieving their professional goals in K-12 education field. We are dedicated to provide students with learning opportunities that build upon the most recent research-based knowledge of instruction and curriculum within the K-12 teaching profession. As students graduate from the college and continue their educational goals and into their teaching professions, they will be able to demonstrate a strong sense of agency and the capacity to become teachers in their field.
Services Offered
The Hixon Teacher Preparation Programs at Pasadena City College is a well established program that provides both curricular and transfer information for prospective teachers. Through our programs, students can streamline the process to become teachers and simultaneously achieve their bachelor’s degrees and teaching credentials upon transferring to the four-year institutions.
Pasadena City College maintains partnerships with five public universities and three private universities in order to assist students in reaching their goals of bachelor degrees combined with a Preliminary Multiple Subject Teaching Credentials or Education Specialist Credentials.
We offer many certificate and degree programs to prepare students to work in early childhood, TK-12 schools, or special education. Pasadena City College’s AA-T in Elementary Teacher Education allows students to gain early fieldwork experience in local elementary classrooms.
The Hixon Teacher Preparation Programs also offer workshops, information sessions with guest speakers, CBEST reviews, scholarships, awards, internship opportunities, and various campus-wide events for our future teachers.
